Artwork Guidelines - Balloon Printing

We can print your logo or design, or you can add your own wording to any of our standard print designs. If you’re supplying your own artwork to us, please follow the guidelines given below. A good quality print needs good quality artwork to start with. We can usually tidy up poor artwork, but this takes time and will cost you extra.

Artwork must be in black on white, regardless of the colour ink to be used in the final design.

Hard copy artwork should be printed as large as possible (definitely no smaller than the printable area shown below for balloons) on an A4 sheet. If we have to enlarge your artwork, some clarity may be lost.

For digital artwork on CD or as an email attachment, files must be formatted for a PC or Mac, in a file type of EPS, PDF, JPG or TIF. We may be able to work with some other file types, if in doubt please call. Image resolution should be a minimum of 300 dpi. Please also supply the underlying fonts or ideally convert text to curves.

Word documents are not a good way to send artwork, as we will not necessarily have the same fonts and alignment can be affected.

Please send your artwork to sales@partymoodsevents.com

If you don’t have your own artwork prepared, our in-house graphic designer can create something for you at an additional cost. The cost will be decided once we know exactly what you want, but will be a minimum of £15.

We can usually recreate simple text free of charge. If you want a specific font, please let us know the font name as there are thousands to choose from and we don’t recognise them all. It is possible we may not have the exact one you want.

Photographs / shading can be printed on balloons as a series of dots. Photos are best printed onto a light coloured balloon, using a dark colour ink. We can work from either a black and white or colour photo, but the printing will be in one colour.

Multicolour printing – we can print up to eight colours on latex balloons and six colours on foil balloons. Please provide colour separated artwork (i.e. one piece of artwork for each colour to be printed – ideally all in black) and a colour composite for reference.

We request at least 2mm separation between colours as semi-inflated balloons are not a solid printing surface and there can be fine movement of the balloons between printing screens, meaning the alignment of colours won’t necessarily be exactly the same from one balloon to the next.

Close registration printing is possible, but may involve additional cost, please ask!

Four-colour process print is available, with a minimum order of 10,000 latex or 5,000 foil balloons, with a longer lead time.

Pantone colours – we try to match Pantone colours as closely as possible to the U (uncoated) reference, but cannot guarantee an exact match. The base colour of the balloon can affect the finished print colour, with transparency also a factor for latex balloons.

This shows the print area on latex and foil balloons and also how a two-colour print may not line up exactly on each balloon

Please remember that printing onto balloons is a very different process to printing on paper and the two shouldn’t be compared.

Important Information

The fine print can be boring, but these bits are important so please take time to read!

Payment should be made via BACS at the time of order. If paying by cheque, we need to receive the payment before processing your order.

Delivery is charged at cost and goods are sent on a standard next day service, unless you request otherwise. All deliveries will require a signature on receipt. Please remember that we have no control over what happens once the goods have been despatched!

Lead time varies, but we aim to despatch within five working days. Printed balloon orders over 5,000 latex or 500 foils / multi-colour prints may take a little longer, but we do try to be flexible and meet your deadlines.

If your order is required urgently, please check with us first to see if we can do it within the timescale.

Printing default for balloons is neck down unless you tell us otherwise. Please use neck up or neck down on your order to indicate which way round you would like your balloons printed. We will use the most suitable ink colour (in our opinion), if you don’t tell us your colour choice.
